UK NCP – The National Contact Point for Professional Qualifications in the UK
UK NARIC (National Recognition Information Centre)
UK NARIC are the National Agency responsible for providing information, advice and opinion on vocational, academic and professional skills and qualifications from all over the world. As the National Agency, managed on behalf of the UK Government, under contract to the Department Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) , we provides the only official source of information on international education and training systems and wide-ranging international qualifications and skills attained from outside the UK.
UK NARIC is part of the NARIC network. This is an initiative of the European Commission and was created in 1984. The network aims at improving academic recognition of diplomas and periods of study in the Member States of the EU, the EEA countries and the associated countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Cyprus. It is also the UK National Agency in a wider network of the European Network of Information Centres (ENICs).
The contract to deliver the management of the UK NARIC on behalf of the DIUS includes:
- The continuing provision of an advisory and information service on overseas qualifications
- The development of electronic publishing services
- The promotion of British qualifications abroad
- The provision of an information and advisory service on the comparability of UK and international qualifications to individuals with international qualifications and organisations which advise or receive such individuals
The core NARIC service is provided through its two key components; an Information and Advice Service to individuals and Membership Services.
UK NEC (National Europass Centre)
The UK National Europass Centre (NEC) is the National Agency responsible for promoting Europass within the UK to individuals, Awarding Bodies, employers, education institutions and other stakeholders. The agency is jointly funded by the European Commission and the UK Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and sits within a network of 31 other Europass Centres within the EU / EEA.
The NEC is responsible for the coordination, management and promotion of all UK activities related to Europass and its documents.
UK NCP – The National Contact Point for Professional Qualifications in the UK
