To continue to support the sector with training and staff development during this period of travel restrictions and remote working, UK NARIC is launching a series of training sessions that you can take part in online.

New interactive digital training sessions are available to book from 1 April on the UK NARIC training schedule web page. The sessions feature more concise and more focused content, optimised for online. These 45-minute sessions have been selected and designed to aid participants in understanding key areas of international qualifications and education systems.

Participation in each live webinar session is priced at £75 per person. Watching a recorded version of the session is priced at £50 per person.

The first interactive digital training session is on 22 April: Evaluating international qualifications - an interactive webinar; with the next one on 29 April: Combating education fraud - an interactive webinar.

We have a series of interactive briefings in May. On 6 May: Briefing on the non-traditional qualifications used for entry into higher education in the UK - an interactive webinar. On 13 May: Briefing on the Indian secondary education system - an interactive webinar. On 20 May: Briefing on Chinese school and undergraduate education - an interactive webinar.

There are also summer dates: Briefing on standardised test in the USA education system - an interactive webinar, on 3 June; Briefing on the long-cycle programmes in the French education system - an interactive webinar, on 10 June; Briefing on the college system and WAEC in Ghana - an interactive webinar, on 17 June; Briefing on the undergraduate programmes and WAEC in Nigeria - an interactive webinar, on 24 June.

Evaluating international qualifications - The session will help delegates understand the principles of evaluating qualifications, the shape and form of secondary education across the globe, understand different higher education accreditation systems across the globe and why this is important and understand why a degree from one country might not be recognised in another jurisdiction.

In addition, evaluation methodologies will be discussed, different education systems will be explored, qualification frameworks and their development and significance will be considered.

Combating education fraud - This online course is designed to meet the needs of those processing international applications for work or study or those in credential evaluation roles.

It provides guidance on what documents to request and on what checks to make when dealing with international credentials. It also provides the opportunity to share experiences and ideas on best practice in the field of fraud detection, and the opportunity to practise the skills discussed using real examples.

Briefing on the non-traditional qualifications used for entry in higher education in the UK - This online session focuses on specific areas of the UK education system, covering qualifications that are encountered less often than the core qualifications used for entry into higher education including vocational qualifications and qualifications that don’t appear on the Ofqual register.

In addition, the session will consider professional qualifications (such as ACCA qualifications) and UK transnational education. It aims to provide an opportunity to explore these areas of the UK system, using specific case exercises to reinforce understanding.

UK NARIC training represents excellent development for university and college staff involved with international admissions. They are also useful for professional bodies, immigration solicitors and advisers, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, and careers/guidance/refugee advisers.

Members can book online (log-in needed) and non-members can email [email protected] to reserve places.
