UK NARIC is a national agency operating in the arena of skills, international qualifications, education and migration/mobility. Our national agency functions are not funded by the taxpayer and we resource their development by commercial revenue in related areas.

UK NARIC operates from its own newly-refurbished office building in a good part of Cheltenham not far from the train station. Shops and services are nearby. There are staff kitchens with free tea/coffee, the atmosphere is friendly, the work has an interesting international dimension, and the UK NARIC team reflects that with more than a dozen countries represented and over 19 languages spoken.

Job Role:

As Business Development Manager, you will motivate and manage a small operations and delivery team, and lead from the front the sales effort in this growing part of our business.

The successful candidate will expand the client base, generate new leads and opportunities, demonstrate an intelligent, consultative sales approach with clients, and develop our portfolio of services, training, and events.

We welcome candidates with experience from any kind of B2B consultative sales or business development background. Knowledge of exhibitions, conferences, events, training services, legal or compliance-based business services, higher education, professional bodies, or membership organisations – any of this might assist in this role – but it’s not essential.


We seek a dynamic, intelligent, growth-orientated Business Development Manager to lead on the expansion of commercial opportunities and sales from a range of UK NARIC services:

  • Corporate Bundles of UK NARIC qualification statements;
  • Delegate places and exhibition/sponsorship packages across the portfolio of UK NARIC events (training services, seminars and the annual conference);
  • Partnership agreements and consultancy services.

Person Specification

Essential Desirable
A degree from a UK University Bachelor, Masters, Post Graduate or Doctorate Relevant Business Qualification
Excellent communicator, charismatic, assertive, professional and credible when dealing with clients
Highly motivated, tenacious, driven, and determined to achieve and exceed sales targets set
Highly organised, with excellent planning skills able to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high quality standards
Ability to quickly develop a thorough understanding of UK NARIC’s markets and products
Very strong interpersonal skills able to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues and stakeholders of all levels
IT Literate able to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite; conduct internet research; experience of using Survey Monkey and CRM database or similar systems
A strong track record of identifying, developing and delivering opportunities for commercial development Experience of business development success in UK and international Higher Education environment
Experience of operating within a commercial environment. Developing and winning new business
Experience in planning, organising and delivering events
Experience in working to sales targets and managing budgets and resources
Experience in marketing management in a commercial environment
A track-record of marketing success in a commercial field
Experience of planning and executing marketing campaigns

Job Role:

As a Research and Data Officer, you would be responsible for the delivery of our core services, particularly research and information development activities. This includes investigating and researching qualifications worldwide, national education systems, and new developments; in short, you would be ensuring the quality of our research and data.

You would also be involved in project activities, contributing to the broad range of our database and publications output about international education; and providing support to our member organisations, which include universities, educational institutions, and government agencies.
