Job Role:

As an Information Officer, you will develop knowledge of overseas qualifications allowing you to assist in the international qualifications recognition and comparison process.  You will maintain a professional and supportive enquiry service via telephone and email. In addition, you will conduct a range of administrative duties and assist in the delivery of training.

Job Role:

As a Research and Data Officer, you would be responsible for the delivery of our core services, particularly research and information development activities. This includes investigating and researching qualifications worldwide, national education systems, and new developments; in short, you would be ensuring the quality of our research and data.

You would also be involved in project activities, contributing to the broad range of our database and publications output about international education; and providing support to our member organisations, which include universities, educational institutions, and government agencies.

As an Information Adviser, you will manage a high volume of calls from people and organisations worldwide.  You will maintain a professional and supportive enquiry service via telephone and email and complete initial checks on new applications.  You will log and process enquiries, applications and payments in our database.  Occasionally you will also have the opportunity to represent the company at external events.

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT) – FLUENT IN SPANISH, GOOD ENGLISH ESSENTIAL

Organisation: UK NARIC

Location: Cheltenham

Starting Salary: £45-£55 per day (depending upon experience)

Hours: The project will run from October 2018 until April 2019. It is expected that the successful applicants will work up to 19 full days or part-time equivalent during that period. You must be available for to schedule and conduct telephone or face-to-face meetings during November, December and January.

UK NARIC, the UK national agency for information and expert advice on international qualifications and skills, is conducting research on English language teaching in Peruvian vocational education and training institutions and the ways in and extent to which it meets the needs of employers.

Job Role:

Are you:

  • A university graduate or current postgraduate student, preferably based in Arequipa, Cusco or Loreto?
  • Fluent in Spanish, with a good level of English?
  • Able to travel within one of the above regions of Peru?
  • Experienced in conducting research interviews or small group discussions?
  • Inquisitive, tenacious, positive and highly motivated?

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of a Research Assistant in this context would be to: 

  • Identify and schedule meetings (telephone or face-to-face) with key employers and professional associations in up to three of the following sectors:
    • Accommodation and catering activities 
    • Professional, scientific and technical activities 
    • Agricultural, livestock farming, forestry and fishing 
    • Trade 
    • Construction 
    • Electricity, gas and water 
    • Manufacturing industries 
    • Information and communication 
    • Human healthcare and social assistance.
  • Conduct research interviews with employers and professional associations to understand the main jobs in the sector and the responsibilities and tasks of each job where English may be required or beneficial
  • Produce summary reports of meetings to UK NARIC
  • Collate and input questionnaire responses to report back to UK NARIC  
  • Be flexible and able to respond to new challenges and developments relating to the project.

Please note: 

It is envisaged that the reports produced by the research assistant(s) will be in Spanish: the role nevertheless requires someone with a level of English at CEFR B1 and above, able to understand instructions from the project team in English, where required. 

This role requires a Peru-based candidate, who is self-employed and ideally living in either Arequipa, Cusco or Loreto. You will be able to invoice UK NARIC on a monthly basis for the work undertaken in accordance with the agreed day, day rates and timeframes agreed in advance.
