Professional Qualifications

What are Professional Qualifications?

Professional Qualifications refer to an award or title issued by a recognised professional body, such as Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Accountant (CA). Professional Qualifications may be obtained through a variety of routes; usually they are awarded after a number of years experience, formalised training and/or study and passing examination(s). It is frequently the case that graduates holding qualification considered to be comparable to at least the level of a British Bachelor degree are able to sit these exams.

The European Directive 2005/36/EC provides a system for the recognition of professional qualifications between the various EU Member States. If you hold a professional qualification from a Member State of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, please contact the National Contact Point for Professional Qualifications for information on how we can help you.

If you hold other international professional qualifications from outside the EU, please refer to our services for information on how we can help you.
